Established at The Golf Club of Georgia in 1998, The Georgia Cup annually brings together the reigning United States Amateur and British Amateur Champion for an 18-hole match in advance of the Masters.
The 13th annual Georgia Cup Match featured the youngest champions in history, with British Amateur Champion Matteo Manassero, 16, of Italy, defeating United States Amateur Champion Byeong-Hun "Ben" An, 17, of South Korea, 5 & 4 on The Golf Club of Georgia's Creekside Course on March 30.
United States Golf Association Executive Director David B. Fay served as Honorary Captain.
Manassero's win cut the U.S. Amateur Champions lead in The Georgia Cup all-time series to 7-6. Manassero went on the following week to earn Low Amateur honors at the Masters.
Televised by Comcast Sports Southeast, The Georgia Cup has grown from an intimate Club event to a unique amateur championship known on both sides of the Atlantic.
The Georgia Cup benefits the Yates Scholarship Fund and the Moncrief Turfgrass Scholarships of the Georgia State Golf Foundation.
All Georgia Cup participants and Georgia Cup Honorary Captains are guests of the Club during Georgia Cup Week and become Honorary Lifetime Members of The Golf Club of Georgia.
